Our adoption process and preferred waiting list:

To ensure the safety and welfare of our departing corgis, we screen all potential customers. As such, you will be required to fill out our Application for adoption. After you complete the application, the next step is to provide the names and contact information for 3 character references from people who have known you for at least 2 years, and the name and contact information of your current vet, if you own(ed) a pet. We WILL contact each reference, so please make them aware of our intention to contact them. It is important that your references respond in a timely manner. We allow 7 days to complete the screening process. If we have not heard back from your references within the time allowed your application will be denied. It is your responsibility to make sure your references return our call or email. Lastly, photos of yourself and the living environment where the puppy will be raised, are required. This is our way of doing a virtual Home Check and get to know you on a more personable level. If you receive a good recommendation from all of your references, your application will be approved. The last step is to submit a deposit of $250 to have your name(s) added to our preferred waiting list. Your deposit must be received within 5 days of being approved to reserve your place on the waiting list. (unless other arrangements have been made) When no deposit is received we will assume you have changed your mind. We reserve the right to refuse adoption to any person who does not meet our qualifications prior to the Adoption Contract being signed. Furthermore, we reserve the right to keep any puppy from any litter for our own breeding program.
The position you are assigned when added to the waiting list is the order you will select your puppy. Puppy selection will be on the day of pick-up, so please be prepared to bring necessary travel items for your puppy. If you do not wish to adopt a puppy when your turn comes up you may wait until a future litter. Please note you will be re-assigned a new position. We want the timing to be right for you, so don't worry if life gets in the way...your deposit never expires! After the litter has been born an additional $250 deposit is required. The remaining balance will be due on pick-up day. (or one week prior to shipping, if applicable.)
Note: All fees and deposits are non-refundable and non-negotiable.
Stud services are NOT provided by Countryside Corgis.
Please remember to notify us of any phone number or email changes after your name has been added to the preferred waiting list so we can reach you. We are not responsible if you cannot be reached. When we contact you, we ask that you respond within 24 hours.
All puppies will be sold with AKC limited registration (companion/pet only). We require our puppies to be spayed/neutered at the age appropriate time upon the recommendation by their veterinarian.
ADOPTION FEE:
Why say "Adoption Fee" instead of Purchase Price? Because you're not purchasing a dog, your adopting a forever family member.
The adoption fee is $2,250, divided into 3 easy payments.
All of our puppies are AKC registerable and will be weaned and ready for their new homes by 8 weeks of age. Per AKC breed standard, their tails will be docked and dew claws removed, unless prior arrangements have been made. If the tail is left on by customer request, we require the adoption fee for that puppy to be paid in full at birth. Additionally, the selection of your puppy will be made by Countryside.
The first worming treatment is administered at 2 weeks and is re-administered every 2 weeks thereafter. Our corgis will have received their first round of puppy vaccinations by 6 weeks of age (a kennel cough vaccine is also necessary at this age if they are being shipped to their new home). All tail docking and dew claw removal is performed by our licensed veterinarian. All puppies come with a 1 year genetic health guarantee. In keeping with our high standard of customer service, a full health record will also be provided.
All puppies will be tested for DM. Here is an explanation of what the test results mean:
DM Clear - The dog has two normal copies of the gene that identifies Degenerative Myelopathy (DM). Clear dogs have a very good chance of never developing DM in their lifetime.
DM Free - The dog has one mutated copy of the gene and one normal copy of the gene that identifies Degenerative Myelopathy (DM). Carriers are far less likely to develop DM as they age.
DM At Risk - The dog has two mutated copies of the gene, and is at risk of developing Degenerative Myelopathy (DM). Although almost all dogs in the research study with confirmed DM have had At Risk DNA test results, recent evidence suggests that there are other causes of DM in some breeds. In short, not all dogs testing as At Risk have shown any clinical signs of DM during their lifetime.
